Proprioception or body awareness training are exercises or activities that increase strength, muscle mass, flexibility, balance and co-ordination. The more aware a dog is of their body and how they move, the less likely they are to sustain injury and the better they can use their bodies to communicate with others.
Body awareness leads to more mindful behaviour from your dog. This course is essentially a yoga class for dogs.
During this course, owners will learn how to recognize movement patterns from their dogs. The course could cover plank work, foot placement exercises, balance exercises and cavaletti training. The course is tailored to its participants. The 5 week course is suitable for all dogs over 6 months of age who are comfortable training in close proximity to other dogs and people.
Proprioception training is essential for all dogs so that they can reach their full potential in regards to their strength and balance.This course is perfect for dogs wanting to start agility training.
The classes are approximately 45 minutes in duration and are held at Lawler Park, Draper Ave in Floreat.
The next 5 week course will start on Saturday 11th May 2019.
